2014 – Visitor guide and website for the Orkney Islands.
Voted one of the top locations in Europe by TripAdvisor, Orkney is truly a beautiful place. But, like all tourist destinations, it still has tough competition to win bookings and visitors.
With something for everyone, our insight was to use analogies of different explorers – from time travellers to treasure hunters; thrill-seekers to gastronauts. We’ve brought to life the many experiences the islands have to offer. We used stunning photography and enchanting copy alongside practical information and advertising to create a printed brochure, digital brochure and website which is now being used as the model for visitor brochures across the Scottish islands.
Orkney is definitely worth a visit – the team here are queuing up for the next client meeting!
We have designed and produced the 2014 Orkney visitors guide - we print over 60,000 guides and are distributed worldwide.
We used visitor segmentation to clearly define our target audience.
The brochure is colour coded throughout for ease of navigation. The sections match the website.
We used stunning photography throughout the guide. We captured all that is magic about Orkney and why you would want to visit.
Part of the success of the guide was to reference photography and places of interest on a map of the area.
We added a 'Top 10' places to visit. So you can see at a glance the best attractions.
We used dramatic imagery and broke down each page into audience segmentation. That way we could talk to the different types of visitors to Orkney.
We added a "find out more' web address that has more information for the visitor.
We featured a 'meet the locals' section throughout the brochure. These are real Orcadians with stories to tell!
We featured real designers and artists on the islands.
We used real examples of visitors to the islands and what they love doing.
The brochure has accommodation listings at the back of the brochure.
The website reflects the printed brochure and images rotate in the header panel.
The website has searchable accommodation and has last minute deals.
There are online digital guides for the Islands. You can even order copies online.
The website has the accommodation broken down into types and is searchable by either area or by star ratings.
